Three schools in the El Segundo Unified School District have been recognized as 2025-26 Project Lead the Way Distinguished Schools.

Center Street School, Richmond Street School, and El Segundo High School earned the designation for their commitment to increasing student access, engagement, and achievement through Project Lead the Way (PLTW) programs. The schools are among a select group nationwide to receive this honor

“We are thrilled to once again have three Project Lead the Way Distinguished Schools in our district,” said Superintendent Dr. Jason Johnson. “This recognition reflects our districtwide commitment to preparing all graduates to be the future leaders of tomorrow. We are proud of our partnership with Project Lead the Way and the opportunities it provides students to develop the knowledge and skills they need for success in school, careers, and life.”

To be eligible for the designation, schools were required to meet multiple criteria, including the availability of and participation in PLTW courses.

"We are proud to honor Center Street, Richmond Street, and El Segundo High School for giving students hands-on, career-connected learning that builds the confidence, knowledge, and skills to navigate their futures," said Dr. David Dimmett, PLTW President and CEO. "Their commitment to real-world, project-based learning ensures students experience education that is meaningful and directly connected to what comes next."

PLTW is a national nonprofit organization that creates transformative learning experiences and empowers students to develop in-demand knowledge and skills for future careers.

The El Segundo Unified School District is part of a national community of PreK-12 schools, higher education institutions, and more than 100 industry partners united in the mission to prepare students for school, work, and life.
