El Segundo Middle School math teacher Garrett Troche recently brought his quick thinking and positive energy to the national stage as a contestant on the trivia game show Press Your Luck! 🎉

Mr. Troche described the experience as a roller coaster and a dream come true. We are so proud of him and the enthusiasm he brings both in and out of the classroom.

The Class of 2025 recently returned to their elementary schools for one last walk through the halls! 🎓👏 Wearing their caps and gowns, they walked the campus one last time as current students cheered them on. It was a heartwarming celebration of how far they've come!

We are proud to share that ESHS engineering and physics students earned first place at the 2025 Herndon Science Competition, hosted by the Aerospace Corporation and the United States Air Force! 🎉 Their project involved the complex task of creating a proof-of-concept satellite designed to address the growing issue of space debris. A project of this magnitude required rigorous work and a deep understanding of physics and engineering. Congratulations to Avery, Sutton, Wesley, Stefan, and Vicken on this outstanding achievement!

ESHS recently celebrated Spring College Signing Day, honoring over 25 Eagles continuing their athletic and academic journeys in college! 🦅🎓 Surrounded by peers, staff, and family, these student-athletes made it official. Way to go, Eagles!

Congratulations to these ESHS Track Team standouts for earning a spot in the prestigious Masters Meet! 🌟 4x100 Relay: Jayden Brown, Evan Chen, Dylan Thomas, and Noah Gonzalez 🌟 Long Jump: Kaia Musalborn This competition takes place after the CIF Section Championships and before the State Championships. Good luck, Eagles! 🏃🏆

Congratulations to ESHS students Brianna, Rushil, Vincent, Owen, and Cameron for earning third place in the 2025 Aviation Design Challenge! ✈️🏆 They competed against nearly 100 teams from across the country in this national competition hosted by the General Aviation Manufacturers Association. Join us in celebrating this impressive achievement!

Meet ESUSD Sweethearts Stephanie and Joey Baynes! 💙 These two met during their senior year at El Segundo High School. They started leaving flowers on each other’s car windshields every morning! Now, they’ve been together for 26 years. They got married in 2012 and now have two sons together—both of whom will one day attend ESHS!

Classified employees are the heart of our schools. From the front office to the cafeteria, from tech support to transportation, these dedicated professionals keep everything running smoothly and support the success and wellbeing of every student. This week, we proudly celebrate California Classified School Employee Week and recognize the incredible contributions of our classified staff. Thank you for all that you do! 🤩

We’re proud to see our students at work in our community! 🦋👏 This group of ESHS students spent the year interning with the Blue Butterfly Conservancy, gaining hands-on experience in environmental conservation and advocacy. Last week, they had the incredible opportunity to present their projects to the city's Environmental Committee! Great work, Jake, Victor, Raymond, Jayden, and Hendrick!

Competing for the first time, ESHS took home the championship title at the Esports Battle of the South Bay, defeating the reigning champions from Redondo Union High School. 🎮🏆 Coached by Mr. Jeon, students Shayne Hopkins and Brody Thomas delivered an impressive performance in the final match. Thank you to Mr. J, Superintendent Johnson, Assistant Superintendent Janicek, Director of Activities Richmond, and everyone else who came out to support the team. Congratulations to our Eagles on this exciting win!

We’re proud to share that El Segundo High School has been named a PTLW - Project Lead the Way 2024-2025 Distinguished School! 🎉 ESHS was recognized for their commitment to increasing student access, engagement, and achievement in their PLTW Engineering and Biomedical Science programs. This is the second consecutive year that ESHS has received this prestigious recognition.
